Here’s the straight truth — no fluff. The Divine Name (יהוה), commonly rendered as YHWH (often vocalized as Yahweh or shortened to Yah), appears in the Hebrew Scriptures about 6,800–7,000 times. What happened? • In the original Hebrew text, YHWH is there — plainly written. • When translations moved into Greek, Latin, and later English, the Name was systematically replaced with titles: • LORD • GOD • English Bibles (KJV included) do not remove the verses, but they remove the Name by swapping it with a title. So instead of reading: Yahweh said… You get: The LORD said… That substitution happens thousands of times. The honest, accurate statement is: The Divine Name (YHWH) appears roughly 6,800–7,000 times in the Hebrew Bible and was later replaced with titles like “LORD” and “GOD” in most English translations. So: • It was not erased from Scripture • It was removed from translation visibility • The scale is in the thousands • The practice was intentional, rooted in tradition and theology, not accident Bottom line: People are taught to worship a title instead of a Name. That’s not a small change — that’s a theological rewrite.
